BIO
Emily Wiethorn is an artist and educator based in Cincinnati, OH. Her work revolves around personal experiences of trauma, mental health, and the effects of PTSD. She researches generational mental health trauma and how our close relationships affect our identities. Emily is the current Chair of the Midwest Chapter of the Society for Photographic Education. She has had solo exhibitions of her work in Texas, Colorado, Nebraska, South Dakota, and Indiana. Emily has had their work published by Vogue Italia, Lenscratch, Fraction Magazine, among others, and was shortlisted for the 2023 Belfast Photo Festival. Her work has been exhibited in national and international group exhibitions, including the Nova 24 Film & Foto Festival in Detroit, MI, and the Angkor Photo Festival in Cambodia. Emily is the Fine Art Assistant Professor of Art & Design in the Department of Creative Studies at Mount St. Joseph University in Cincinnati, OH.
